
1904 July — Council: “From John Healy et al petitioning for opening up and grading of Semlin Drive between Harris and Venables Street. Referred to BOW.”i When the BOW looked at it, the request was for the opening up of Harris Street as he was about to build on Victoria Drive. It was agreed that the necessary blasting should go ahead.”ii
1909 March – Semlin Drive is cleared and graded between Napier and Parker. The work is completed on 12th June.iii
1909 April – Semlin Drive is cleared, graded and rocked from Grant to a point 120’ south. The work was completed on 23rd July. That same month, a sewer was laid along Semlin from Napier to William. That worked was completed on 3rd May. iv
1909 November – Semlin is cleared and graded from Graveley to Third Avenue. The work is completed on 13th January 1910. v
1909 December – Semlin is cleared and graded between Grant and Bismark. The work was completed on 23rd March 1910. vi
1910 February – Semlin is cleared and graded from Venables to Parker and from First to Second Avenues. The work was completed on 23rd March. vii
