Parker Street

1904 February — The Board of Works approved the grading of Parker Street “for two chains east from Clark Drive” after a request from a Mr. Brewer. Also in February, F.L. Ballard requested and the Board approved the opening of Parker Street for 50 feet from Clark Drive. i

1904 March — “Stumps on Parker Street are to be blown out.”ii

1905 April – G.A. Stevens asked for the opening of Parker Street east of Park Drive. Referred to Engineer for report.iii

1905 June – Appropriation #129 dated 20 June 1905 ordered the opening and grading of Parker from Raymur to Victoria Drive at an estimated costs of $1,500. Between July 1905 and July 1906 the Engineer spent $1,340.79 in labour and $113.80 in materials.iv

1905 September — O. Meere and others asked that Napier Street and Parker Street be cleared from Victoria Drive to Semlin Drive “and even to Lakewood.” The Engineer reported that no money was available as the streets had not been included in the previous By-Law.v

1906 February – Parker Street was cleared and graded from Raymur to Victoria Drive. Later, the Board of Works approved the following for future estimates: Parker, Victoria to Lakewood, open & grade, $645.vi

1906 September – A 3-plank sidewalk was laid on Parker Street from Park Drive to a point 250’ east. George Freeman was the foreman and the work was completed on 25th October.vii

1907 February — Four residents petitioned the Board of Works: “We the undersigned make application for the watter (sic) pipes to be layed (sic) on Parker Street between Cotton and Parke (sic) Drive for block 23 … also the sidewalk.” viii

1907 April – A 3-plank sidewalk was laid on the north side of Parker Street between Cotton and Park Drives. George Freeman was the foreman and the work was completed on 3rd May. ix

1907 September – A 3-plank sidewalk was laid on the south side of Parker Street between Odlum Street and 150’ east. The work was completed on 15th October. x

1907 November – A 3-plank sidewalk was laid on the north side of Parker between Woodland Drive and 175’ east, and between Victoria Drive and Salsbury Drive. The work was completed on 8th January 1908 and 13th February respectively. xi

1908 October – A new sewer was laid on Parker Street between Park Drive and Victoria Drive. Mills was the foreman and the work was completed on 8th December.xii

1908 November – A number of residents petitioned for a three-plank sidewalk on Parker Street block 28.xiii

1909 April – A sewer was laid on Parker Street between Victoria and Semlin Drives. White was the foreman and the work was completed on 26th May. xiv

1909 July – 6’ concrete sidewalk proposed for both sides of Parker Street between Cotton and Victoria Drives. Cost $3,059.96 with city paying $225.96 under By Laws 563 and 624.xv

1910 July — Parker Street was rocked from Woodland Drive to Salsbury Drive. xvi

1911 July – 6’ concrete sidewalk proposed for north side of Parker Street between Woodland and Cotton Drives. Cost $538.56 with city paying $15.84. xvii

1911 September – 27’ foot pavement proposed for Parker Street between Victoria and Salsbury Drives at a cost of $5,021 of which the city would pay $249. xviii

1912 June – 6’ concrete sidewalk is proposed for both sides of Parker from Victoria Drive to Lakewood Drive at a cost of $2,610.00 with the city paying $356.47.xix

1913 June – 6’ concrete sidewalk is proposed for both sides of Parker Street between Cotton and Victoria Drive at a cost of $4,451.63 with the city paying $482.36; and for the northside of Cotton between Woodland Drive and Cotton at a cost of $914.65 with the city paying $144.48.xx

1913 June – 27’ asphalt pavement is proposed for Parker Street between Victoria and Salsbury Drives at a cost of $5,704.93 of which the city would pay $284.19.xxi
