
1905 February – J. Philips wrote to the Board of Works asking for the opening of 5th Avenue from Park Drive to Woodland. The request was referred to estimates. i
1906 March — J. McNichol complains of conditions at Victoria Drive & Fifth Avenue. Referred to Engineer.ii
1906 July – 5th Avenue is opened up by the chain gang “from Park Drive westerly as far as houses extend on the north side.” iii
1906 November – The Board of Works approved a 3-plank sidewalk on 5th Avenue from Park Drive east for 600 feet for $120. The north side had the sidewalk laid under foreman George Freemen. The work was completed on 9th January 1907. iv
1907 November — Four signatories sent in a petition “to open up 5th Avenue east as there is now 4 houses in the first block from the car line on Park Drive. There is (sic) 2 houses occupied, one with two families who is (sic) waiting to have the water laid on which cannot be done until the street is opened.” In response the work gang was instructed to cut a trail east of Park drive which they did by 8th January 1908. In addition, a 3-plank sidewalk was laid on the south side of 5th Avenue from Park Drive east to lot 24. The work was completed on 13th February 1908. v
1909 February – 5th Avenue was cleared and graded from Semlin to the City Limits with the work being completed by 12th June. vi
