At a meeting on Friday 28th September 1923, the members and supporters of the Little Theatre approved “with much enthusiasm” the purchase of the Palace Theatre, 637 Commercial Drive. Built in 1913 as the Alcazar, it is now the York Theatre.

For the previous two years, the Little Theatre — described as “a true community” project — had worked out of Templeton Hall, but the new building was, with a few alterations, much more suited to their needs.
Work began on the alterations on October 10th with completion promised for the opening production on November 7th. The building permit for $6,000 was issued on October 12th. Messrs Hodgson, King & Marble were the contractors. “It will be equipped with modern lighting and heating, and the decorations and furnishings, without being elaborate, will be artistic and comfortable.”
